30 Songs Challenge Day 30: “A song that reminds you of yourself”

30 Days

30 Days. 900 songs. No repeats. There are times when I start a project without quite realising how much time it would take. Whether it was making a list of a hundred problems I could see with The Hundred, or transcribing large portions of a radio interview, I’ve come to regret these choices. Now, however, I have so much free time due to the lockdown that I’m glad for something to do. Even if it is spending 20-30 hours finding appropriate YouTube videos for 900 songs. Well, mostly glad.

Today’s 30 songs are about me. For someone who has a blog, I really don’t like talking about myself so this is another post where the songs will have to speak for themselves.

On Day 12, over two weeks ago, I picked 30 songs which my parents liked as I was growing up. I have no one to blame today’s selection on but myself, as these are 30 tracks from singles and albums I bought as a teenager. 30 Songs Challenge Day 24: “A song by a band you wish were still together”

30 Days

This was a lot trickier than I thought it would be, due to the simple fact that successful bands and groups rarely seem to actually stop touring. Splits, deaths and other issues don’t seem to stop some pale imitation of the band continuing on, like a zombie. So, if you were being picky, I daresay you could argue with several of these picks on thre grounds that some of them are still around in some form…

A Tribe Called Quest – Can I Kick It?
Acoustics & Alcohol – The Last Time
Beastie Boys – Sabotage
Bee Gees – Stayin’ Alive
Carousels & Limousines – Greasy Hands
